After they returned to Jamestown at the request of Baron De La Warr, Sir Somers took the Patience and went on a supply mission to Bermuda for fish and hogs. Before they could return to Jamestown, Somers died on November 9, 1610, due to eating too much pig. His nephew, against his wishes, did not return to Jamestown and instead buried Sir George Somers’ heart and entrails on Bermuda and brought his body back to England, where he was buried, with honors, at Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset in 1611.
