We’re excited, too!

Sea Ventures: A Digital History Survival Game is the game your history professor didn’t know they needed, and the game you didn’t know you wanted. Combining rigorous academic research with a choice-based survival game format, Sea Ventures explores choice, luck, and consequences in early American colonization. Test your wits to see if you could survive to save Jamestown and, along the way, experience just how much chance was involved in the successful settlement of America.

However, more than just a game for fun learning, we believe Sea Ventures: A Digital History Game is a compelling academic experiment. Through the development and deployment of this project, we will show users and academics alike how video games can be used to convey historical research in a way that engages and entertains public audiences. We think that projects like this may very well be the way of the academic future, and we hope that you’ll think so, too.

As of this update [11/08/19], Sea Ventures: A Digital History Survival Game is on track to be available to the public on December 10th.
