During the initial stages of creating our digital history project, we referred to a number of existing projects to get a sense of what can be done, what should be done, and what we want to improve. Here are some we think are worth checking out:

  • Digital Giza, Harvard University: Originating from the desire to digitize their documentation from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston – Harvard University expedition to Giza, Egypt, the Giza Project has since evolved into providing comprehensive and interactive information about archaeology at the Giza Plateau in Egypt.
  • Musical Passages Jamaica, this project was a collaborative effort between multiple historians, musicians and web designers. The goals of this site were to bring the music of slaves on the mid-west passage to life, and immerse visitors in the rich heritage that these people left behind. Capitalizing on the writings of Hans Sloane the project allows users to listen to recordings of the music while learning more about those who played in hundreds of years ago.
